Supporting our Kauai neighbors in need is so important, and the Visitor Industry Charity Walk is one way that No Ka Oi spreads the spirit of aloha.
Giving back is a big part of what we do, whether by improving properties and contributing to the Garden Isle’s beauty, or working at the ground level to benefit the community by participating in local fundraising efforts.
The Charity Walk is just one way our firm, and our employees, give their time and talent to help others.
Supporting Kauai Nonprofits
The Charity Walk is Hawaii’s largest one-day fundraiser, and Kauai’s 2.9-mile walk kicks off at 7 a.m. on May 17. The event is sponsored by the Hawai’i Lodging and Tourism Association, and the funds go directly back to the community.
In Kauai, the walk’s proceeds benefit 47 nonprofit organizations, including Kauai Big Brothers Big Sisters. Since the walk’s inception in 1978, walkers have raised more than $26 million to help hundreds of local charities throughout Hawaii.
Last year alone, 14,700 walkers on participating islands raised more than $1.7 million! That’s a lot of giving, and a lot of good for many islanders.
How We’re Preparing
No Ka Oi has been gearing up for this year’s walk, with fundraising efforts that began earlier in the year, including a bowling night.
Now, we’re warming up for the main event. There will be checkpoints stocked with refreshments, friendly volunteers who are part of Hawaii’s hotels and allied organizations, and lots of food and entertainment at the finish line. Join us for the party!
